Homeopathic Remedies for Restless Leg Syndrome

Restless leg syndrome causes an unpleasant creeping sensation and urge to move the legs; it usually begins shortly after going to bed. Restless leg syndrome is an irritating condition, particularly since it results in loss of sleep. Homeopathic medicines can bring a measure of relief. If symptoms persist, a professional homeopath should be consulted for further advice.

Zincum metallicum 6c: When legs are very restless, people should try this remedy first. Nervous exhaustion often precedes the need for this medicine. Individuals may also suffer headaches in the back of the head and be sensitive to noises. Zincum metallicum 6c can be taken three times per day for one week.

Ignatia 6c: When an emotional, tense person has restless and jerking arms and legs at bedtime, this remedy may serve well. People needing this homeopathic medicine will sigh often and have difficulty expressing their emotions freely. Ignatia 6c can be taken in the amount of two times per day for three weeks.

Arsenicum album 30c: The symptoms displayed by this remedy are similar to Ignatia as above, but are always accompanied by great exhaustion after even the slightest exertion. The person will generally be restless, both physically and mentally and may suffer from unfounded fear. Try Arsenicum album 30c every hour for up to six times per day, then three to four times per day until symptoms improve.

Aconite napellus 6c: Fears and anxieties can lead to restlessness in the extremities, as well as restlessness of the mind. Typically, there is a feeling of numbness and tingling in the legs and feet. For those (often elderly) people who suffer from restless legs and deeply troubling thoughts, Aconite napellus may be beneficial. Aconite napellus 6c can be taken two times per day for three weeks.
