Homeopathic Remedies for Raynauds Phenomenon Raynauds phenomenon is a disorder in which the circulation to fingers and toes is diminished when exposed to cold. This effect, which is more common in women than in men, is caused by spasmodic contractions in the tiny blood vessels of the hands and feet. It can produce chilled hands and feet, which turn white, or even blue, with cold. These very chilly hands and feet can be painful and difficult to restore to warmth. Fortunately, homeopathic remedies can aid in relieving the discomfort of Raynauds phenomenon.
Carbo vegetabilis 6c: When the skin looks mottled with a blue cast and feels icy cold, this remedy may be helpful. The symptoms may improve when individuals are being fanned or are breathing deeply, and they may express a desire for fresh air. Sometimes there is a tendency toward indigestion and bloating in those who may need this remedy. They are likely to feel chilly all over, not just on the hands and feet, and may feel as if they are never able to get truly warm. Carbo vegetabilis 6c can be taken once each hour, four to six times; its use should be discontinued as symptoms diminish.
Arsenicum album 6c: Sometimes the symptoms of coldness and blanching are accompanied by localized swelling, and the affected areas itch or burn. For people experiencing these symptoms, Arsenicum album could be helpful. Those who benefit from Arsenicum album are often restless, anxious, and prefer warm drinks. Arsenicum album 6c can be taken every thirty minutes for up to three hours, discontinue with significant improvement.
Pulsatilla 6c: If the fingers and toes are icy cold, yet applying heat to warm them up increases the discomfort, then Pulsatilla may be indicated. As odd as it seems, the symptoms may actually be improved by applying cold. When the condition causes chilblains or blisters to form on the skin, or when the hands and feet feel worse by letting the arms or legs hang down, this remedy can be considered. Pulsatilla 6c can be taken every thirty minutes for up to three hours, discontinue with significant improvement.
